I don’t know about you guys, but I’m a huge fan of garden writer Amy Stewart. How cool is it that us humble Humboldtians have a New York Times bestselling author right here in Northern Humboldt?
I’ve been eagerly awaiting her newest book, Wicked Plants, a chronicle of the most offensive, homicidal, evil-doing plants in the world (read the recent Times-Standard article here). When deciding which plants to feature in the book, she said she was going for plants with a body count. Um, yeah. I’m there, dude.
Anyway, if you’re as excited as I am, don’t miss Amy’s book launch party at Eureka Books in Old Town, which coincides with Arts Alive. It’s Saturday May 2nd from 6 to 9 pm, and Amy will be there signing books.
The store will also have an exhibit of Briony Morrow-Cribbs’ gorgeous wicked plant etchings from the book, and will be selling two sets of notecards of the etchings. I haven’t seen these for sale anywhere else, so I’m picking up a few packs to give the extras as gifts.
Check out Amy’s video trailer about Wicked Plants (SO funny), and to Amy’s fellow fans – I’ll see you on Saturday at the book launch!
